Essential Books for Children is pleased to announce the launch of our new Essential Books for Children StoreWe created the Essential Books for Children to make it easy to discover age-appropriate classic fiction and nonfiction books that are the building blocks of any child's library--from a baby's first book to a story that will captivate a 12-year-old reader moving into young adulthood.

With many wonderful books available for children, choosing one can be a little daunting--our lists of carefully selected titles focus on must-have books that adults and kids return to again and again.  Every title is recommended by Amazon's editors and boasts an average Amazon customer rating of four or more stars--check out Doreen Cronin's hilarious perception shifter, Diary of a Worm, on our list for Ages 5-6, with a five star average rating and 112 reviews and counting!

In our Essential book lists, you'll find award-winners, and books that are award-worthy--best of all, unlike the latest craze, titles like Hop on Pop, James and the Giant Peach, or A Wrinkle in Time never go out of style.

We still want you to know about the very best in new releases, so keep an eye on our Best Books of the Month for Children to learn about our favorite brand-new picture books and books for middle grade readers--some of which we think are destined to become new classics.

I'd love to hear about your favorite books or new discoveries in the Essential Books for Children Store, and any beloved tomes not on these lists that you think we should consider when it's time to review them all next year.
