2012 Children's Choice Book Award Winners

This year over 500,000 readers voted for their favorite kids' books of 2011 in four age categories, plus best author and illustrator of the year. Tonight was the gala event to kick off Children's Book Week and announce the 2012 Children's Choice Book Award winners, and it's a fantastic list.  Hosted by Jarrett Krosoczka (Lunch Lady and the Summer Camp Shakedown), authors like SE Hinton (The Outsiders) and Jack Gantos (Dead End in Norvelt) took the stage to present the awards.  Our editors' pick for the Best Middle Grade Book of 2011, Okay for Now, was a favorite of readers and took the win for grades 5-6, with author Gary Schmidt telling the crowd, "this is so much more than okay, guys."  Congratulations to all the authors and illustrators!
