Captain Underpants Wraps Up Summer Reading

Even though we are about to have the hottest days of the year here in Seattle, summer is (sadly) coming to an end and it's our last week of Summer Reading Author Adventures.  We've had an amazing line-up of kids and teens authors over the last several weeks, starting things off with a laugh courtesy of 2012 Newbery Medal winner Jack Gantos, and now we are ending it with an author who always brings a smile to young faces--Dav Pilkey and his beloved Captain Underpants series.

It's long been one of my favorite things to watch an illustrator at work, seeing how their characters come to life before my eyes.  In the exclusive video below, Dav Pilkey does some whiteboard illustrations, talks about the new book in the series, Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers, and explains how reading gives you superpowers.
