Celebrity Picks: Dan & Phil's Favorite Reads of 2016

Dan_and_Phil_2016_225WPhil Lester and Dan Howell are hugely famous to a certain crowd. If your IT question was ever read aloud on Dan and Phil's BBC Radio 1 segment, "Sorry I Don't Know How to Internet," you are probably not among that certain crowd. You might not even watch YouTube.

But fear not! Dan and Phil have a new book out to bring you up to speed and put you in their shoes as they venture outside (!), take photos, and write down the stories behind the Amazing Tour Is Not on Fire in their new book, Dan and Phil Go Outside.

See Dan and Phil's picks for the top two books they each read this year below, and look here for more celebrity favorites. Learn more about the Amazon Books Editors' picks for the Best Books of the Year.

PHIL LESTER: Full Dark No Stars by Stephen King
As a horror fiend this was perfect for me! An anthology of mysterious, spooky and mildly terrifying horror stories from Stephen King. As I’ve been on tour for the last year I haven’t really had time to dive into a dense book, so it’s great to be able to read one of these stories in one evening. Maybe not when your tour bus breaks down in the middle of the night though.

DAN HOWELL: Harry Potter And The Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling and Jack Thorne
As part of the generation that grew up at the exact age of Harry, this series returning to my life is a big deal. I sold my soul to get tickets to the stage show in London and no spoilers, but everyone says it is life-changingly incredible.

PHIL LESTER: The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories: Volume 1 by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and wirrow
This was made as collaboration by my friend Wirrow, Joseph Gordon Levitt and many other artistic members of the internet community! Each story is a maximum of two pages long but some will stay with you for much longer.

DAN HOWELL: Humans of New York by Brandon Stanton
You don't often take time to think about the stories of each person that you walk past in the street, but this book really shows the diversity and common ground between all of us. It's hard not to feel like a more aware and compassionate person after reading this!
