New Year, New Authors: Top Romance Novelists Recommend Up-and-Coming Writers

New Year, New Authors - Amazon Book ReviewThere's a breathless delight that voracious readers get when we turn the last page and think, "I have found a new writer whose books I plan to devour like all the chocolate cake that I've sworn not to eat...at least during January."

And who better to help you find these up-and-coming talented authors than other romance writers who know a thing or two about the genre?

Read on for book picks from Lori Wilde, Debbie Macomber, Lenora Bell, Jennifer Probst, Abbie Roads, and Lori Foster that will spark that thrill of discovery inside you.

There is always room on my bookshelf for new authors, and my latest discovery is the talented Charis Michaels. I love bad boy heroes and strong heroines, and Michaels delivers in One for the Rogue, a heartwarming Regency romance featuring an incorrigible rogue who more than meets his match in the determined lady who is hired to give him lessons in comportment. In a clever twist on the Pygmalion/My Fair Lady storyline, she must make him respectable . . . while resisting the temptation of his scandalous ways. Complex characters, sizzling chemistry, and delightful humor kept me devouring the pages and left me with a craving for more. I can’t wait for her new series!

Lenora Bell's next historical romance is Blame It on the Duke (April 2017).

My pick is Miranda Liasson, whose book, Can't Stop Loving You, came out from Montlake on December 6. I love Miranda's easy-to-read style. She has lovely pacing and the story is homey and heartfelt. Her characters are richly layered and complicated, but with wit and charm. The small-town setting springs to life on the page. A great book to curl up with on a cold day in front of a roaring fire.

Lori Wilde's next Texas-set romance is Million Dollar Cowboy (March 2017).

I don’t normally read fantasy, but Amanda’s debut novel A Promise of Fire sucked me in and wouldn’t let me go. I binge read it. I couldn’t stop. I had to keep reading and then all of a sudden it was done and I was left bereft waiting for January and the sequel A Breath of Fire.

Cat and Griffin’s story is my favorite romance of 2016. Cat has a horrific past that she tries to keep hidden not only for her own protection, but to protect anyone she cares about. She has a hard exterior, but her genuine love and caring shine through her actions. Griffin is determined to penetrate Cat’s self-defenses, and he’s the only man strong enough to bear the threats to their future.

Recommended for those who wish Game of Thrones could have a happy ending.

Abbie Roads's latest paranormal suspense romance is Hunt the Dawn (December 2016).

JENNIFER PROBST RECOMMENDS:

Seeking Mr. Wrong by Natalie Charles is a delightful romance full of fun. Honestly, from the very first page I adored her writing voice and humor. If you’re looking for something to put a smile on your face, read this book!

Any Time, Any Place is Jennifer Probst's newest Billionaire Builders novel (January 2017).

LORI FOSTER RECOMMENDS:

For a series that hits all the right notes, I LOVE Jenn Stark's Immortal Vegas books. Her latest book, Forever Wilde, is amazingly creative with a unique premise of a Tarot-reading artifact hunter who rescues psychic children from human traffickers waging a war on magic.

Lori Foster's latest high-action book is Under Pressure (January 2017).

Over the years, I have been interviewed many times, but rarely has the reporter captured my personality in such a succinct way within a single paragraph. From that point forward, I knew that Jessica Strawser is one talented writer. The question came if her fiction skill would be equal to her nonfiction skill. When I learned Jessica had written a novel titled Almost Missed You, on sale March 28, 2017, I was anxious to find the answer. This novel did not disappoint. Almost Missed You is a powerful story filled with insight and redemption. I believe that this is the beginning of an exciting career for an author that will touch on the emotions and the hearts of her readers.

Debbie Macomber's next new novel is If Not for You (March 2017).
