As Barbara Bush makes clear in her new memoir, Sisters First, there's a lot of pressure that comes from being named after your grandmother and a former First Lady.

Luckily, twin sisters Barbara and Jenna have a close relationship that holds up under pressure. They also share a love of reading, as they recently told People magazine. “And we like to read at the same time, so that we have someone to talk to about where we are in the book, and what might be going on,” said Barbara.

Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh - I read that David Sedaris loved Eileen, so I was expecting a comedy. And, while it is hilarious, it is also a thoughtful, witty, exciting, dark thriller with a phenomenally depicted, quirky main character, Eileen.

Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff - Fates and Furies is a modern-day Greek tragedy—beautiful, romantic, and ultimately infuriatingly heartbreaking. Lotto and Mathilde are college sweethearts who are happily married for almost 25 years. And then…well, I won’t say more, but remember the Greek tragedy bit. In re-looking through my book, at least one sentence per page is underlined for its simplicity, or beauty, or ability to move me due to Groff’s excellent writing.

The Mothers by Brit Bennett - The Mothers is a delicious book centering on three African-American teenage (and then adult) characters—Nadia, Aubrey, and Luke—who grow up together in a Southern California town navigating friendship, love, and the expectations of their community and while dealing with grief, betrayal, and secrecy.
