Laini Taylor Dreams of Murdered Gods and Magic

StrangeTheDreamer200One of the authors I most enjoy is Laini Taylor.  Taylor's Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy is one I recommend often and while it's categorized as young adult, to me it's just immersive literary fantasy and if you're 17 or 71 (my mom recently read and loved the trilogy) Taylor's books deliver on the promise of a great read.

I've had the pleasure of getting together with Taylor to talk about her newest book starting with Daughter of Smoke and Bone in 2011 and it's always fascinating to hear how her characters and plot lines develop and change in the process of coming to life on the page.  Taylor is exceptional at world building and her new book, Strange the Dreamer, is every bit as vivid and detailed and real as the world she created in her trilogy.

Strange the Dreamer is the story of a lost city with a very big problem, dead gods, and a young librarian who dreams of a place that he doesn't think exists.  Until he discovers otherwise.  Taylor originally intended for this to be a story that takes place over the course of a single novel, but as you'll hear in the video below, one has now become two, and I am not the least bit sorry to hear it even though it means waiting to see what happens next...

*Strange the Dreamer is our top pick for the Best Young Adult Novels of 2017 so far
